FAQ

How does the App connect to the scale?
Via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

Why does the App request location in order to scan?
While this App will not use or calculate your location in any way, it is an Android requirement to ask for the location permission in order to scan for Bluetooth devices.
For more information please feel free to check our Privacy Policy.

Why can’t my App connect to the scale?
In case you’re experiencing repetitive connectivity issues, please follow the steps below:

1. Please make sure the scale has batteries inside and that the On/Off switch at the bottom of the scale is On.
2. Every time you turn the scale On the red light at the side of the scale should flash once. If that’s not the case even after you loaded it with new batteries, please contact us immediately.
3. If you have multiple phones in use, please ensure to disconnect the previous phone first. You can do this by closing the App and restarting the scale (using the On/Off switch).
4. Once you tap on the *Connect Scale* button, the App will start a scan and then connect to the first available scale. Along the way, you will be prompted for various permissions / switches if needed.

If the problem keeps occurring, please contact us immediately.

How long can the batteries in the scale last?
That depends on the time the scale is On and connected. Once the scale is connected to the Propane Scale App on your phone, you would be able to see the battery energy bar on the upper right side of the App’s main screen, that will indicate how much power the batteries have left.

Can I use rechargeable batteries in the scale?
Absolutely!

What is the maximum distance I can have between scale & phone?
For clear reading we recommend to stay within 20ft range of the scale.

How much weight can I put on the scale?
This scale is designed to weigh up to a full 40lb propane tank, which makes a maximum of 89lbs. Although the scale can sustain up to 150lbs, adding more weight might damage the accuracy of the scale. Please use the scale as instructed in the Terms of Use page.

Why does the scale show wrong values?
Please make sure the App is set on the right tank. In the upper left corner of the main screen there is an indicator of the tank size the App is using as a basis to weight calculation. If the scale is measuring a 20lb tank while the App is set on a 30lb tank, that’s probably the reason for getting wrong readings.

What is the My Tanks page for?
The My Tanks page is meant to help Propane Scale users to monitor their propane consumption over time.
After every reading you can tap on the green Record Amount button to enter new values into your tank history log. In order to edit this page or to add new tanks to your history log, please click on the Record Amount button *during an active reading*.
Entering this page by directly tapping on the My Tanks button at the bottom of the main page, will open My Tanks page in a view only mode to help you avoid accidental changes to your recorded history.
